Visiting Professor Judith Giers is an expert in civil and criminal appeals. She practices appellate law at Giers Olson, PC, in Eugene. Professor Giers currently is the chair-elect of the Oregon State Bar's Appellate Section Executive Committee.

Professor Giers began her legal career clerking for Judge William L. Richardson of the Oregon Court of Appeals. She then worked as a trial and appellate lawyer with Harrang Long PC, eventually becoming a shareholder in the firm. She also has experience managing the appellate practice for the Hershner Hunter LLP firm. She is a former professor of legal writing, appellate writing and advocacy, and federal civil motions practice at Oregon Law.

Professor Giers received her bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado and her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in Boston.
