Application Procedure
(applications are due March 30th. Please contact us if you are having trouble meeting this deadline)
Steps to apply:
- Apply online at the graduate school: http://gradweb.uoregon.edu/online_app/application/guidelines.htm
More information can be found at: http://gradschool.uoregon.edu/?page=admissions
Note: If you are an international student and do not have a social security number, leave that line blank.
Because the Master's in Conflict and Dispute Resolution program has its first course in mid-August, prospective students must (due to a limitation of the graduate school application procedure page) apply for summer admission rather than fall which seems more logical. Students then enroll in regular fall and winter terms. Spring term is approximately five weeks long, concluding in May.
- Send your official transcripts, in an unopened envelope, from each post-secondary institution you have attended.
Note that you must send two sets of transcripts, one to Ellen Laing at the Master's program, and one to UO Admissions (Office of Admissions, 1217 University of Oregon, Eugene, OR 97403-1217).
Send the following items directly to Ellen Laing, our program assistant:
- Your GRE, LSAT, or GMAT score report sent directly from the testing entity. Note that we do not have an absolute cut-off score for the GRE, LSAT, or GMAT. Rather, we look at whole application package and make our admissions decision based on the whole picture. We will waive the GRE, LSAT, or GMAT requirement for applicants who have a Ph.D. from the US or Canada. The GRE code for Institution is 4846. For information about the GRE, visit the website http://www.gre.org. It takes five or six weeks for scores to reach us, so make sure to take your exam well ahead of the application deadline.
- Recommendations from at least three individuals who are in a position to evaluate your potential for successful completion of the program. When possible, have at least two of the letters be academic references. Please use the Report on Graduate Applicant form
- A two or three page statement outlining your interests in conflict and dispute resolution, your career aspirations, and your reasons for seeking this degree.
- A recent academic or professional writing sample, approximately 5 to 10 double-spaced pages in length. This must be an accurate reflection of your writing.
- Schedule an interview by contacting our program assistant.
Students who have already completed or are currently admitted to another University of Oregon graduate program don't have to re-apply to grad school. Just complete a Permission to Re-register in Graduate School form.
In addition to the above requirements, international students must submit:
If you have questions to which you are not finding answers, be sure to contact us.
